Nightshade Free Blackberry Apricot Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients
  • ¼ cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp cooking oil
  • ¼ cup dry red wine
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp molasses
  • ¼ tsp allspice berries
  • ½ tsp dry mustard
  • a small pinch of ground cloves
  • ⅛ tsp white pepper
  • ⅛ tsp salt
  • freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 bay leaf
  • ¼ cup apricot preserves
  • ¼ cup blackberry preserves
Instructions
  1. Cook onion in oil in a small saucepan over medium heat until starting to brown.
  2. Add minced garlic and stir just until aroma comes, 30 seconds to a minute.
  3. Add wine and rest of ingredients and simmer 10 – 15 minutes until reduced and thickened.
  4. Brush it on whatever you're grilling toward the end of the cooking or brush on for a quick broil after slow cooking. I've even added some of this to stir fries with great results.
