Philly Cheese Steaks on Portobello Mushroom “Buns”
My hubby, who's from Philadelphia, invented the ultimate low-carb sandwich: the Philly Cheese Steak on Portobello Mushroom “Buns”. It is so easy to make – great for the lazy days of summer. Saute up some onions and peppers. Saute some chopped deli roast beef with a little soy sauce, sherry and tomato paste. Top the mushroom/bun tops with slices of provolone cheese, and put them under the broiler … [Continue Reading...]

Homemade Meat Tenderizer
This is kind of a mini-post directed at those cooks out there who like a little woodworking or have a willing woodworker in the house. I’m sharing the meat tenderizer my husband made for us years ago. Now that the kids are grown, he made a couple for them this Christmas, and we thought, “Hey,…

Stuffed Mushrooms are such fun finger foods and perfect for holiday parties. You can stuff them with all sorts of things. There’s another really good recipe on this website if you want to keep them strictly vegetarian, but this year I thought it would be fun to do Crab-Stuffed Mushrooms. The sweet succulent crab and…
